the hidden treat...no tricks!!

This treat is a gift from God that you can enjoy forever!!

The Bible says "God so loved the world [all of us], that He gave His only Son [Jesus], that whoever [any of us] believes in Him should not perish [die], but have everlasting life" (John 3:16)

Everlasting life is just what it sounds like...it is the kind of life that you can start enjoying now and it will go on forever and ever!!     It is a life that you can only get from God.  And God wants you to have this treat so much that He has taken care of the sin that has separated you from Him.  The Bible says "all have sinned" (Romans 3:23) and so even though we deserve to be punished for our sins, God still LOVES us! and He LOVES us so much that He sent His only Son from Heaven to take our sins away!!

So tonight as you think about those "tricks and treats"...think about this ULTIMATE treat!! The gift of everlasting life, from God and God alone...ask Him and He will put it in your goodie bag!!

here's to a bag full of God's 'goodies'  :o)

Get Wet

Pool

It's 6:00am, its dark, and you are standing on a wet pool deck in a Speedo suit with the air temperature hovering at 48°F. It's not to late to turn back, you haven't made the commitment. It's decision time. But in the back of your mind you hear the famous words: "Get Wet" - the swimmers credo for "Just do It" or "Make it So". It's one of the many little decisions that will be made which will form your day and eventually your life. There have been days where I defiantly said no, walked back to the locker room and went on with the day. Those days are rare, but they do happen.

"Get Wet" actions are not all fun, but the rewards are significant. On this particular day I didn't complete the entire workout, but some days are a victory if you just get wet.

wednesdays...

why do Wednesdays really get you thinking about the weekend?  On Mondays I rarely have a moment to thing ahead to the weekend, but do often try to remember with fondness the weekend just past...on Tuesdays I never think about the weekend because that is the longest day of the week, usually jammed up with meetings at work, meetings after work, things 'to do' off the 'to do' list...and then comes Wednesday...sitting in the middle, somewhat of a turning point day...

its not really at the beginning of the week, not really at the end...yet somehow it magically denotes that another weekend - while just beyond our immediate reach - it is coming! And how simple it is to get excited about this most simple of ideas...

Here's wishing you a Wednesday that lets you see glimpses of a wonderful fall weekend ahead!!!

multiple chances...

So lately I have been inundated with a theme of the same saying....each said a little differently...

  • Be absolutely determined to enjoy what you do.
  • Do what you love, Love what you do.
  • Do the things that bring you joy and joy will come from you.
  • Choose your love, love your choice.

I am intrigued whenever the same phrase re-occurs in the span of just a few days.  It makes me wonder what the message is and what it is God wants me to learn from hearing it in so many different ways.  I also believe it is a blessing that He gives me several opportunities to "get it"...and I am grateful since it can take me a few reps to grasp that these are not simply  'coincidences'.  God is good that way, and not just in reminder phrases we can learn from. He is good in that He is a God of multiple chances...

When Jesus died on the cross, God already knew that the death of His only Son would stand as a repetitive reminder of His great love for us...and it wasn't a coincidence. Things in my life that appear to repeat - seemingly for no reason - remind me of that...

So I just have to wonder...and therefore ask...what is God doing right now - in multiples - to get YOUR attention?
